
Our History
1990 - Sweetener Supply is established in Darien Illinois by Adolph "Sonny" Gardella & Thomas F. Speck as a distributor of food ingredients
1999 - We acquire the Brookfield, Illinois bulk sugar transfer and manufacturing facility, marking a pivotal milestone in our growth and transforming Sweetener Supply into a vertically integrated manufacturing and distribution organization.
2002 - The acquisition of Delicious Food Company, a nearly century-old Chicago specialty blender and packer of molasses, syrups, and honey, broadens our capabilities and strengthens our position as a growing provider of value-added food ingredients
2008 - Ridgeland Fibers is launched with the construction of our Berwyn, Illinois facility, introducing innovative functional dietary fiber solutions to the baking and pet nutrition industries while expanding our value-added ingredient portfolio with anti-caking solutions for the cheese industry.
2012 - Our second Ridgeland Fibers manufacturing facility opens in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, adding significant capacity in the heart of America's Dairyland and supporting continued growth across our expanding customer base
2017 - Nevada becomes a little "Sweeter" with the opening of our Reno facility expanding our footprint and allowing to us to increase service to the west coast and beyond
2021 - Our Wolcott, Indiana distribution center opens, featuring a state-of-the-art Ridgeland Fiber milling and blending operation that replaces the original Berwyn facility while significantly expanding capacity and enhancing our ability to serve customers nationwide
2022 - We acquire Buffalo New York based C.J. Irwin & Company, a century old sugar broker and distributor, expanding our reach into the Northeastern United States
2024 - Our Thomasville, North Carolina manufacturing facility opens, marking another major milestone in our growth journey. This strategic investment expands manufacturing capacity, strengthens our coast-to-coast distribution network, and broadens the reach of our SSC brands to customers across the United States.
