1990 - Sweetener Supply is established in Darien Illinois by A.J. "Sonny" Gardella & Thomas F. Speck as a broadline distributor of food ingredients and sweeteners

1999 - Acquire the Brookfield Illinois bulk sugar handling & transfer facility, ushering a new era in manufacturing for the company

​

2002 - Delicious Foods of Chicago is acquired, a nearly 100 year-old specialty blender and packer of honey, molasses & cane syrups

​

2008 - Introduction of Ridgeland Fiber to the marketplace with the construction of our Berwyn Illinois facility. Offering functional dietary fibers for baked good & pet nutrition as well as anti-cake solutions to the cheese industries

2012 - Our second Ridgeland Fiber operation opens in Elkhorn Wisconsin expanding capacity and making us a one of the leading producers in North America 

 

2017 - Nevada becomes a little "Sweeter" with the opening of our Reno facility allowing us to service our growing west coast customer base

2021 - Our Wolcott Indiana distribution center opens which also features a brand-new Ridgeland Fiber milling and blending facility

2022 - We acquire Buffalo New York based C.J. Irwin Company expanding sales & distribution into the Northeastern United States

2024 - The next chapter begins with the opening of our Thomasville North Carolina distribution center allowing us to expand our SSC family of products into the Southeastern U.S.

2026 - This year marks 36 years of Sweetener Supply. We’re proud of what we’ve built together—and even more energized by what’s next. With expansion plans underway, it’s an exciting time for our team and the customers we serve.
